Valve testing & PSV verification

We test valves for pressure integrity, function and leakage, and verify the set pressure of pressure safety valves, so every valve leaves with a result you can file.

Overview

Testing confirms that a valve will hold pressure, operate correctly and seal as intended. TMI tests valves after repair, and also tests valves on their own for inspection or recertification.

For pressure safety valves (PSVs), TMI verifies the set pressure, the pressure at which the valve opens. TMI also carries out online repair and testing of PSVs, where the valve is checked in service, without shutting down the process.

Scope of work

  • Pressure testing
  • Functional testing
  • Leak testing
  • Set-pressure verification of pressure safety valves
  • Online repair and testing of pressure safety valves
  • Testing of control, safety, motor operated and wellhead valves
  • Testing after repair or for recertification

Typical applications

  • Post-repair acceptance testing
  • Periodic PSV recertification
  • Pre-installation checks on new or stored valves

Common questions

What tests does TMI carry out on valves?

Pressure, functional and leak testing, and set-pressure verification for pressure safety valves.

Can a safety valve be tested without removing it?

Yes. TMI carries out online repair and testing of pressure safety valves, checking the valve while it remains in service. Contact the team to confirm whether it suits your valve.
